Description of The Jade Series
The Jade Series is a New Adult Romance that follows the relationship of Jade and Garret in their first year of college. In Choosing You, (book 1), Jade and Garret meet on Jade’s first night at Moorhurst College and despite their strong attraction to each other, they’re not allowed to date because of the strict rules that control Garret’s life. In Knowing You, (book 2), Garret breaks the family rules and begins dating Jade. Their relationship grows deeper but issues from Jade’s past complicate matters. Loving You (book 3) shows Jade and Garret growing closer as a couple but also hints at the trouble that lies ahead in Promising You (book 4), which comes out late January 2014, and wraps up the storyline.

Excerpt:
“Come check this out.” Garret opens the drapes in the living room. It’s dark out so he turns the outside lights on and I see that we have our own private patio complete with reclining chairs and a small hot tub.

We go outside and I lie down on one of the chairs. “Can I sleep out here?”

He laughs. “No. I wouldn’t be able to sleep next to you.”

There’s a knock on the door to the room. Garret leaves to answer it, but I stay outside breathing in the salty ocean air.

“Close your eyes.” Garret’s outside again, but he’s standing behind me so I can’t see him.

“I’m afraid to. What are you doing?”

“You don’t trust me? That hurts, Jade.” He’s kidding, but I play along.

“I’m sorry. I totally trust you. My eyes are closed.”

“Now open your mouth.”

“Why? What are you feeding me? Is it green? Because I don’t eat green foods.”

He’s laughing again. “It’s not green. God, I swear you’re the worst person to surprise. You need to relax and just go with it.”

I open my mouth and he puts a small square of something in it. Chocolate. The creamiest, richest chocolate I’ve ever tasted.

“Good, right?”

I open my eyes and see him sitting in the chair next to me unwrapping his own piece of chocolate.

“Really good. Where did you get these?”

“They’re from Belgium. From this really small store in Brussels. My dad brought a box of these back from a trip a few years ago. I’d never had chocolate that tasted that good. I thought you might like it so I ordered some.”

“This is definitely the best chocolate I’ve ever had.”

“Try this.” He holds up a tray of chocolate-covered strawberries.

I take a bite of a ripe, sweet strawberry dipped in that same Belgian chocolate.

“Those are so good. I need to have another.”

He hands me a strawberry. “I just realized I’m being a total cliché. The guy who buys his girlfriend chocolate and flowers for Valentine’s Day and takes her to a fancy hotel. Is that lame?”

“It’s not lame. I love it. This is my first Valentine’s Day. I want all the clichés.”

“Well, next year I’ll do something completely different.”

“So no flowers and chocolate? Because I kind of like those things, especially the chocolate.”

“I agree. The chocolate must remain. But the rest will be different.”

“You know you didn’t have to do all this. The flowers in my room would have been enough.”

He slips his hand into mine and says simply, “I had to show you the ocean.”

Excerpt
I still haven’t recovered from cutting Nan’s hair yesterday, and I almost skip knitting club again, but my mom is driving me crazy with her total loss of emotional control. It wouldn’t be so bad if Dad would just stay home once in a while. She’s calmer when he’s there. “Talia!” Marybeth’s voice slices through my thoughts. “What?” The way I glare when I say it makes her jump back. Her eyes sparkle at the potential for drama, but we’re cut off by Georgina. She squeezes my knee. She knows. Lachlan must have told her. “You’re still taking my place at the shelter on Wednesday, right?” Georgina asks sweetly. “I know I said I would, but my old bones are extra creaky lately.” She smiles that conniving smile. Volunteering with Lachlan again. She needs to stop throwing us together in hopes we stick. I roll my eyes. Marybeth scoffs. “She’s been hanging out with that grandson of yours too long, Georgie. She’s adopted his attitude.” Georgina’s face sets into a neutral stare. She doesn’t look at anyone, but stands slowly, using the couch arm to brace herself. She puts away her knitting and leaves the shop. She doesn’t move fast, which makes it a lot more awkward to watch her, knowing she’s offended. The jingle of the door makes me shoot out of Nan’s chair and I sprint to the door, flinging it open. I practically run Georgina over just outside, forgetting she doesn’t make good distance at her age. I slow to her pace and reach for her hand. She’s shaking, but I can’t tell if it’s nerves or she’s upset. Her face betrays nothing. I am thinking of what to say, when her eyes suddenly glaze with tears. “He’s a good boy, Talia. He’s such a good boy.” She shakes her head lightly, and I squeeze her hand. “He is, Georgina. He’s a great guy.” I’m not sure I believe it after what happened between us, but he’s this woman’s family. “It’s really not his fault my stupid child fell for that rotten man,” she continues. I keep walking with her and nod. I’m not about to stop her from talking about the things Lachlan keeps locked away. “From what I hear, rotten is a nice way to describe him.” Georgina wipes a tear from her cheek and puts her arm around my waist, squeezing me. It’s a very grandmotherly thing to do. If I didn’t have Nan, I would definitely take Georgina as my grandma. “No child should ever see what he saw. No child should feel what he felt. I’m surprised he isn’t worse.” Her eyes lose focus, and she shakes her head. “Do you ever worry his dad will come back?” I think it’s a legitimate question, but the way Georgina’s looking at me, I know I’m missing something. “He didn’t tell you?” Georgina shakes her head. I shiver in the cold October air as a shadow passes across me. “Tell me what?” I ask. Lachlan doesn’t really tell me anything. Someone clears his throat behind us and we both jump. I spin to face Lachlan, utter betrayal saturating his features.

Waiting On Wednesday: Waiting For Ex

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine to show upcoming releases that we can't wait to read (aka going crazy waiting for). This weeks book is:
Solving for Ex

Solving for Ex
Expected publication: February 11th 2014
Paperback, 300 pages

Goodreads synopsis:

1 crush on your best friend +
1 gorgeous, scheming new girl +
1 Mathletics competition =
1 big mess

SIMPLIFY.

Ashley Price doesn’t have much in life after being bullied so hard she had to leave her old school to live with her aunt and uncle in Pittsburgh. But the camera she borrowed from her best friend and secret crush Brendan, and her off the charts math abilities, make things a lot more bearable. Plus, since Brendan is the captain, making the school Mathletes team should be easy.

But when gorgeous new girl Sofia rolls in and steals Brendan, Ashley's place on the team, and her fragile foothold on the Mansfield Park Prep social totem pole, it’s on. Sofia is everything Ashley left her old school to escape. The only thing Ashley didn’t count on is Sofia’s sexy twin brother Vincent.

Vincent is not only the hottest boy in school, he’s charming, sweet, and he’s got his eye on Ashley. He’s also not taking no for an answer. There's no real reason Ashley shouldn't like Vincent, but with the
battle lines being drawn between her and Sofia, Ashley’s not sure which side he’s on. Or which side she wants him to be on.

She does know Sofia is trouble with a capital T, and she’s determined to make Brendan see it.

SOLVING FOR EX is a YA contemporary romance that remixes Mansfield Park as Clueless meets Mean Girls in a crazy mix of high school society, mathletic competition, and teenage romance.

This book is definitely my kind of book. I love nerdy contemporary romance novels. This reminds me of a book by Kelly Oram or even This other book my friend made me read years ago that i fell completely in love with ( really need to read it again).

What are you "waiting on"?

Release Date: December 5, 2013

Synopsis:

Zara Edgingway is a twenty-six-year-old secretary. She has a daughter that apparently knows-it-all and a best friend that could possibly have the mouth of Satan, but she's been with her through hell and back. Then there's the hunk'a'licious biker neighbour finally showing interest in her.
If only she isn't about to face her next obstacle in life, the one she ran from six years ago: her ex husband.

Just when her past catches up with her, she'll need, not only his protection, but the help from his biker brothers.
Now, if only she'd stop fighting him along the way.

Book Review:

Zara has been in hiding/on the run for 6 years. She has a double to protect and a best friend she loves more than anything but when she least expects it her sexy biker neighbor decides to barge in not only through her door but into her life. No matter what she says or does he refuses to not have her as his. In the chaos of Talon trying to convince her she is his, men keep coming to her door seeking her out. The one person she doesn't expect to see is her baby brother. He comes baring news that shakes her to her core.

With the fear of trying to give love a second chance and worrying about her ex coming to kill her and her new family, Zara is at a loss of what to do and ready to loose her nerve. Her house becomes filled to the brim with people that love her and want to protect her. As she begins to get comfortable with Talon and his child as a part of her life, her worst nightmare comes true.

The best part of this book was the way everyone talked to each other. Talon was all filled with angst and manliness yet couldn't help but be softened by Zara. Zara and Darla were hilarious. All of the nicknames and just the things they said to each other had me cracking up even when it was supposed to be a serious moment. If you like a book filled with lots of testosterone and drama... grab this book asap.
