(Goodreads synopsis) Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . .
ANGEL EYES
Brielle’s a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake.
Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.
Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.
A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.
Brielle's world is turned upside down when her best friend is killed. She is sent back home to Stratus and pushes her dreams of one day being a ballerina behind her. She is completely broken and consumed in her sorrow. In the midst of her trying to find her place again and dealing with her loss, she meets Jake. He is unnaturally warm and Brielle finds herself drawn to him every time he is near. She can't help getting close to him especially after he shows up everywhere and always comes to the rescue.
When her best friends killer goes on the loose she turns to Jake and his guardian. Brielle gets a glimpse into the celestial which changes her life even more. She sees first hand that Angels and Demons are real. Brielle gets physically attacked by a demon but that just opens a door to a darker side of the world that she never knew existed. As they try to figure out exactly what happen to her friend, they discover how much demons were really involved.
Jake is my favorite character. I love when Brielle first sees him when she is dancing in the studio. He just start cracking up. I love his sense of humor and how open he was. He did everything so freely; laughed, loved, and trusted.
This book really captured the difference between light and dark; Heaven and Hell. Being a believer in Christ this really reminded me that God's army fighting for us. Its true that when we are at our lowest point the devil attacks harder so that we drown in our pit. Brielle and every other person that was living in complete fear would leak out something like tar. It would stick to everything the same way fear and depression does. We are to trust in God and with that brings the warmth was described coming from the angels.
Another thing that was so fascinating was seeing the demons that were assigned to people. There are really evil people in this world that are meant for destruction and this showed the power the devil has over them.
This book really was incredible. I hope everyone loves it as much as I did.
