The Right Moves by Emma Hart Book Blitz

The Right Moves by Emma Hart

(The Game #3)
Publication date: March 27th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
Her past is wrought with demons.

His past is full of heartbreak.

Yet he’s the one person that can remind her what it means to live.

Abbi Jenkins never thought she would leave the walls of the mental institution that’s housed her for the last year. Now she has, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten everything Pearce put her through.

She knows there’s only one way to deal with the depression that claws at her mind each day, and ballet becomes more than a hobby, a dream. Ballet – and Julliard – becomes a reason to live. Something to hold on for.

Blake Smith left London for one reason and one reason only. Running from the heartbreak of his past was never something he wanted to do, but with constant reminders everywhere he turned, it became his only option. When he arrives in New York City, he vows he’ll keep the promise he made to his sister and get into Juilliard.

But he doesn’t expect to be paired with Abbi in class, the girl whose eyes show a world of pain he’s seen before. Pain he knows too well. As each hour they spend together pulls them closer, Blake can’t fight his need to save her from herself.

Lines blur as their pasts are wrenched into the open, and they have to ask themselves whether they’re  too broken to ever to be fixed, or if they’re the healing the other needs.

Excerpt:
Abbi: “Come dance,” he repeats, spinning suddenly.
“You’re insane.” I shake my head. “I’ll get soaked.”
Blake grins. “Isn’t that the point of dancing in the rain?”
“It’s getting crazy out there. I’m getting wet even standing here because of the damn windows!” I move into the center of the shelter. “Freakin’ hell.”
“So what’s the problem? Come on.” He holds a hand out, his long fingers begging me to grasp them. I look from his hand to his eyes, his twitching lips, his wet hair dripping down his face.
“I … No.”
“Trust me.” He’s not asking me. “Trust me, Abbi. Just two minutes. That’s all you have to do. Just take my hand and dance in the rain with me for two short minutes.”
“Why are you so determined to get me out there? If you want to dance, we can do that here.”
He steps back under the shelter and takes my hovering hand. He’s wet but heat radiates off him and wraps around me. Our faces are inches apart as I look up at him and he down at me.
“Because I see the way you lose yourself when you dance and I want you to lose yourself like that with me. I want you to get lost in me. It’s selfish but I don’t care.”
I breathe in sharply and try to ignore the way his grip on my hand tightens. “I don’t … I don’t know if I can let myself,” I whisper.
“Sure you can. You just admitted you don’t have to pretend with me. And you don’t.” Blake takes my other hand and slowly pulls me forward. “All you have to do is close your eyes. I promise you, you won’t get lost alone.”

Second Chance Summer Release Day Blitz: Review & Giveaway

Title: Second Chance Summer (Chance Series, #1)
Release Date: Monday, September 23rd
Cover Design by Emma Hart
Publisher: Self-Published

Back Cover Blurb:

From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Love Game and Playing for Keeps is a story of hope and the beauty of getting a second chance at the kind of love that comes once in a lifetime…

“You don’t get a love like ours and get to leave it behind.”

Kia James was never meant to return to her hometown of Harlan Grove, Alabama… But she has.

And Reese Pembleton was definitely not supposed to still be in love with her the way she is him… But he is.

Last summer was the summer to end all summers. It was the summer they both fell in too deep to get out, and try as she might, Kia can’t deny that whatever was there between them a year ago is still there. If she’s honest with herself, there’s so much more there than there ever was, but the way her dad walked out six years ago has shattered her belief of that fairytale love every girl craves.

Reese isn’t giving up so easily. His biggest mistake was not chasing after Kia the way he wanted to when she upped and left him without a word. Despite what she says, he knows her better than anyone, and he knows she still wants him the way he wants her. And this time, nothing will stop him from getting – and keeping – his girl.

But nothing is that easy. When Kia’s dad arrives back in town, family secrets come tumbling out she never realized existed. Everything her mom has ever told her about the reason he left is a lie – but how can she trust the man who, by his own admission, didn’t fight for her as hard as he could have?

With her past and present wants and needs colliding, Kia is thrown into the turmoil of the biggest decisions of her life. And she realizes, sometimes a second chance is all you need.

Excerpt:
“Are you gonna be wearing that dress all day?”I suck my bottom lip between my teeth and look at him innocently. “Why?”“I… You can’t answer a question with a question.”“Fine. No, I won’t be.” I cross one of my legs over the other, my dress sliding up my thigh. Reese stretches his fingers on the steering wheel.“You won’t be?”“No. We’re going to the beach, right?” He nods. “Well, then. I’ve got my bikini on underneath. I’ll be wearing that.”“Just that?”“No, Reese,” I say dryly. “I have a trench coat in my beach bag I was planning on putting on when we get there.”He’s silent for a second, his eyes flicking to me and back to the road again a few times before he says, “I like it when you turn on the attitude.”“I don’t have an attitude!”“Like that.”“I don’t have an attitude!” I repeat, shifting in my seat. “Do I?”“Yeah, you do, baby. And I feel like I need to respond with my own attitude.”“The one that is supposed to sweep me off my feet, right? That attitude?”We turn off-road, taking the shortcut we used last summer, and Reese nods. “That attitude.”“And how exactly is that attitude going to help you now?” The truck swerves suddenly and stops at the side of the empty road. My hand is released, and I hear the click as Reese undoes his seatbelt. He leans over toward me, one hand on the back of my seat and the other resting on my thigh.I look up from where his hand is on my leg and straight into his eyes. His nose brushes against mine as he breathes out across my lips. My eyes shut slowly, and his fingers dig into my skin a little.“This attitude,” he whispers huskily, his probing hand moving further up my leg until it reaches my bikini bottoms. He slips a finger under the waistband, running his finger along my skin from my hip to the clenching muscles between my legs, not touching them, and back again. His breath moves across my mouth as he breathes heavier than usual, and I can do nothing but sit here and let him do whatever. I’m frozen in place with anticipation. I’m blazing hot wherever he’s touching me, and everywhere he isn’t is ice cold.I tilt my head back slightly, but he pulls away. I open my eyes and stare at a sea of gold flecked hazel. Hardened gold flecked hazel. Yep. He’s pissed.“If you kiss me right now,” he breathes, his face as hard as granite. “There isn’t a chance in hell we’ll make it to that fucking beach today.”

Review:
Kia James has had a hard life. Her dad left 6 years ago with no excuse making her mother into an alcoholic. Kia is forced to grow up and become the parent to can take care of her mother. After spending a year in N.Y.for college, she has to come home for the summer. She is dreading coming home after last summer when she fell completely in love with the oh so sexy Reese. She does everything possible to avoid him but when her car breaks down she is forced to go to his job to get it fixed.

Reese is determined to get her back. As angry and hurt as he is and continues to get hurt he keeps trying to convince Kia that they belong together. Kia is terrified to allow Reese to have her heart because of fears she hasn't told anyone about. She begins to start snooping for information about her parents separation when her dad shows up. Her bitterness and hatred is unleashed until she finds out the truth of why her father left.

Kia's best friend Luce had been in love with Adam for forever. They bicker and flirt to no avail. Neither of them will admit there feelings until one drunken night they give in to their lust. With the fear of the ramifications, Luce now has a broken heart to deal with as well.

With both girls feeling broken and completely alone, they are left with the decision to run away or turn to the one they love.

This book was just lovely. I think I fell in love with Reese. His determination was so awesomely adorable. He didn't let anything get in the way of having Kia. I definitely want someone that in love with me. Kia was definitely an interesting character. She is someone who people can relate to. She had been hurt and feared of getting hurt. I definitely recommend this book to NA lovers and anyone who loves a good love story with a bit of heartbreak.

Release Week Book Blitz: Playing for Keeps

Blurb:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes the second book in The Game series, and the story everyone wanted after The Love Game…

She's in love with him.
He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.

Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper – not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he’d ever built and tear them down without even realising she was doing it.

Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn’t on Megan’s to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she’s come to know, she can’t walk away.

Aston’s childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it’s clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he’s buried deep down.

What he doesn’t want to face. What he’s fought against for so long.

And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.

Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.

**This book can be read as a standalone novel, but reading The Love Game (The Game, #1) beforehand is advised.**

My Review:

Maggie has been in love with Aston for a while but can't do anything about it because he's a bigger whore than her best friend Braden. Braden being a caveman won't let anyone near Maggie especially Aston. While Braden and Maddie are away for the weekend Maggie goes to sneak into Aston's room but he catches her. After one night together they can't seem to just leave it at that.

Aston has a horrific past that he has been pushing away his whole life. Maddie brings memories and all the horrors to the surface. As much as he tries to keep those things buried, Maddie makes him open up and face his demons.

Maddie and Aston start a secret relationship. They need each other more than anyone can understand but are afraid to let it come out.

This book broke my heart and pieced it back together. Aston's story tore me apart but the more healing he got the more you wanted to give him a hug. I loved Maddie's character. She was strong in the first book but she really won the prize in this one. She was completely loyal and was there for Aston as best she could. Even when things blew up, she stood her ground for him. They really did have an unconditional love. It was really sweet.

Excerpt:

ASTON:

“You okay?”
I shake my head. “No. Every time. Every fucking time he brings her up. I thought he wouldn’t in front of you, but he did.”
“He has his own pain,” she says softly. “It doesn’t excuse it, but he does. He feels guilty for what happened to you – that he couldn’t stop it.”
My mind reels for a second and I look down at her. “He told you that?”
She nods, letting her hand drop from my back and standing in front of me. I stop.
“You’ve never let him tell you.” She reaches up and cups my face. “He hurts, too, Aston. You both hurt. It’s not something that will go away, but you can’t let it rule your lives. If you let pain rule you you’ll get lost in it.”
“What if I’m already lost?”
“You’re not lost. You’re hiding, but you’re not lost. I won’t let you get lost.”
I let my hands come up and rest on her back, pulling her into me. “What if there’s no map?”
“Then I’ll get lost with you,” she whispers. “I won’t let you let them win, Aston. I won’t let you get sucked in by those demons. I won’t let that happen. I care too much.”
And she does. I can hear it in her voice.
She wraps her arms around my neck, and I hold her to me tighter, our foreheads resting against each other.
“I’ll try, Megs,” I promise. “I can’t say I won’t, but as long as you’re here, I think I’ll be okay.”
“And you’ll talk to your Gramps? Just once?”
“I’ll think about it. How about we just focus on stopping me from getting lost for a bit?”
“You just need a place to aim for, that’s all. You need a place to go to.”
“Go on then.” I smile. “Give me a place.”
“Okay.” She pauses for a second, closing her eyes and chewing her lip.
“I’m waiting…” I tease her.
Her blue eyes open, shocking me with their vitality. “Aim for the moon, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
“I don’t need to aim for the sky. The only star I’ll ever need is standing right in front of me.” I brush my lips over hers. “Maybe the place I need to aim for is nowhere other than where I am right now.”
“Maybe I’d go with you wherever you ended up.”
“Maybe I’d never ask that of you.”
“Maybe you wouldn’t need to ask. Maybe you’ll never need to ask me for anything, because I’ll always be here.”

My Review:

Maddie goes to Berkley to get away from her past and problems in New York.  While at a party her friends challenge her to do to the player Braden like he does to every girl on campus. Not only do they want to give him his own medicine but they want to teach him a lesson. Maddie knows she can do it because she knows his type but the problem is, she can't help but be attracted to him.

Braden has been wanting inside Maddie's pants since he first laid eyes on her. His friends see the interest and they decided to challenge him to get Maddie to fall in love with him and have sex within a month. With help of their friends they set out to make each other fall in love.

What they never expected was to get lost in their own game. Braden is more than just a sex addict and when Maddie's past comes back around to haunt her, he's there in a way she never imagined. Braden never thought there was more to Maddie than just the sweet appearance she gives off. All he wants to do is peel the layers and find out what she's hiding. He never thought he would start to care.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the banter between Maddie and Braden. He was such a caveman and wanted to beat his chest and yell mine at every guy who even looked at "his girl". Maddie was so strong. She didn't take crap from anyone and when her fears were placed before her she stood up and did what she needed to do. Their friends were hilarious. I think everyone needs friends that are as loyal as those. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
