Waiting On Wednesday #3

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine to show upcoming releases that we can't wait to read (aka going crazy waiting for). This weeks book is:

Twisted Perfection (Too Far, #3)
Expected publication: April 22nd 2013

(Goodreads synopsis) Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. Besides there was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.

The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

The reason I'm "waiting on" this book because I loved the first 2 books in the series. Woods was always there to come to the rescue so I'm excited to hear more about him.

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page

My Teaser:

I hate those freakin’ green pigs mocking me. I hit the restart button and slide my finger over the screen, pulling back the little blue bird. I let him fly, giving the screen a quick tap and my fuzzy blue missile splits into three, peppering my taunters with their rage.   Ice shatters and I slaughter the green sows.   Victory is mine. (Kindle Locations 44-2179)
Tucking her pencil behind her ear, Danny puts her hand on her hip. "I tell you what... when you're ready to order, how about..." she pauses to look around the table and points right at Carter, "... you... just raise your hand when you’re ready to order and I'll come back over and help ya out. Okay?"
Without waiting for a reply, she shoots Carter a wink and turns her back on us. I can't help it but I start laughing out loud and Angeline swings her eyes at me in fury.   I ignore her, still chuckling. (7% Kindle Locations 131-2179)

Off Sides (Off Series, #1)

Off Sides (Off Series #1) by Sawyer Bennet
Kindle Edition, 137 pages
Published February 21st 2013
Big Dog Publishing

(Goodreads synopsis) “I'm not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was the impossible expectations I faced, maybe it was my own self-loathing. But I just knew I needed something different to happen. I needed someone...something...to derail me from my current path. Otherwise, I would become lost...a hollowed out shell of a man. So I did it. I approached her, then I pursued her, then I made her mine. And my life was saved...”

Ryan Burnham is the privileged son of a U.S. Congressman and captain of his university’s hockey team. While he is on the verge of fulfilling his dreams to play in the NHL, his parents want him on a different course. One he is expected to accept for the sake of his family’s public image.

Forced her to abandon her music career after the heart breaking death of her parents, Danny Cross exists on the opposite side of the tracks from Ryan. She is struggling to make her own way, working two jobs, attending college part time and volunteering in a homeless shelter. She is on a mission to build her own success.

With a chance meeting, their vastly different worlds collide, causing each to evaluate whether they are truly on the correct path to self-fulfillment and happiness. Can their relationship survive? Particularly when others are against them every step of the way. A lot can happen in just ten short days...

Waiting on Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine to show upcoming releases that we can't wait to read (aka going crazy waiting for). This weeks book is:

Truly, Madly, Deadly
 Expected publication: July 16th 2013
Sourcebooks Fire
Paperback, 304 pages

(Goodreads synopsis) Sawyer Dodd has it all. She's a star track athlete, choir soloist, and A-student. And her boyfriend is the handsome all-star Kevin Anderson. But behind the medals, prom pictures, and perfect smiles, Sawyer finds herself trapped in a controlling, abusive relationship with Kevin. When he dies in a drunk-driving accident, Sawyer is secretly relieved. She's free. Until she opens her locker and finds a mysterious letter signed by "an admirer" and printed with two simple words: "You're welcome."

The reason I'm "waiting on" this book it because of how quickly this caught my attention. Its not your typical book.

My Teaser:
"Ladies, I give you the banana." With that, Adam smashed it against Scott's locker, smearing it in a vast sweeping motion. The mushy, granulated chunks were thoroughly mashed into the crevices of his combination lock. And Adam did this all while humming a joyous tune. He then hooked the banana peel through the lock loop; it dangled like a motley alien form. (kindle location 171 of 4531 3%)

Book Review: Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding Series #1)

Once Upon a Prince
Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding Series #1)
by

(Goodreads synopsis) Once Upon a Prince, the first novel in the Royal Wedding series by bestselling author Rachel Hauck, treats you to a modern-day fairy tale.

Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess---just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn’t going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life.

The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simon’s Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family’s tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna’s aid under the fabled Lover’s Oak, he is blindsided by love.

Their lives are worlds apart. He’s a royal prince. She’s a ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel’s coronation.
~My Review~

It isn't very often that I come across a book and get completely sucked into with the first few pages. Not only did it draw me in but I felt every emotion that was portrayed in each page. That takes skill.

This story was about 29 year old Suzanna who waited 12 years for her high school sweetheart, soldier to propose to her. Instead, he dumps her with a heartbreaking line and everything else you never want to hear when getting dumped. With her life turning to shambles and turns to God and surrenders to His will.

Nathaniel (sigh), is the knight in shinning armor that every girl dreams to one day meet. While on "holiday", the last thing this crown prince expects to find is a lovely southern peach. With a dying father and the pressure of his country on his shoulders, he decides to have to fun and enjoy this beauty.

Nate and Suzy spend a few weeks working at Suzy's parents restaurant falling in love without realizing it when Nate is swept off to Brighton. Suzy thinks this chapter is over when she receives an invitation to the coronation. With the pressure of everyone around for Nate to marry someone he doesn't and breaking the law, Nathaniel is only left to surrender to God for wisdom and guidance.

This story was beautiful and enchanting. You can't help but fall in love with Nathaniel and cheer on Suzanna. Every character had such a strong role and played the perfect part. I'm usually very skeptical with Christian fiction because more often than not Jesus is barely involved for its just a corny story. This book really showed the importance of trusting in God and surrendering to His will. It was real; it showed the true struggle that we face in doing this and the consequences when we trust in ourselves instead.

I recommend this book to everyone.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
