Fan-Girl

As I mentioned before, I am super excited for TMI: City of Bones movie. I normally don't get too crazy over movies but come on this is a book that I loved turned into a movie. Therefore, my geekdom was unleashed.

Here's the trailer:

I have mixed feelings about it. Don't get me wrong it looks awesome, I just wasn't really expecting it to be like that. I hope it sticks close to the book. Its so disappointing when they veer off and make it a whole different story. The books were so amazing and kick arse so I have high hopes for the movie.

I will let ya'll know what I think of the movie (TMI).

SO EXCITED!!!!

I'm A Lost Pup

One of my favorite things to do is write posts that are completely me. I'm a little on the crazy side so they can be fun.

The reason I titled this ^ is because even though I'm not exactly new to the book reviewing world since I have been reviewing on Goodreads for a while but this blogging thing is a mystery to me.Once I think I'm getting the hang of things I realize stuff like "hey whats all this policy stuff on everyone's blogs?" See what I mean. I'm lost peeps! I shall figure this out!

http://media-cache-ak1.pinimg.com/originals/b9/2e/9a/b92e9af2d8aea5d8236ea1734826c1c7.jpg

Totally not the challenge I'm going for but still funny (love Pinterest).

Anywho...

Things have been kind of crazy lately. My dad's brain cancer is back and he started his first round of radiation yesterday.

Cyberknife is a huge robot that moves all around his head and zaps at it. (Scary right?!) SO as you can see things are definitely not the norm for me but honestly when are they ever. It sucks though because we are going on 4 years of this battle and it's like we just started this whole process all over again. Instead of sitting on my tush and getting all depressed and shnipes I decided to go a marathon/walkathon shabang:

Back to the bookish world.

I am currently reading City of Ashes. I wanted to get even more in the "spirit" of TMI. If you know know about TMI then you need to get slapped like... yesterday. Seriously though The Mortal Instruments is AMAZING! You have to read City of Bones NOW!! I'm fangirling hard core! I can't wait to see the movie. If you haven't seen the trailer... well just scroll down my lovely's because here it is!

Are you hooked now? Seriously I am all giddy just thinking about it!

I want to try and get more personal posts in so hopefully ya'll will hear from me soon! =p

Book Review: The Selection

Released: April 24th 2012
Publisher: HarperTeen
Hardcover, 327 pages
(Goodreads synopsis) For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

After reading Suddenly Royal I knew this was the next book I needed to keep since I was in a prince daze. The Selection is one of those books that I had to stay up all night to finish. I normally hate love triangles. I am a happily ever after kind of girl so when I read about someone that cannot decide who to love or who she is truly in love with, I want to smack them. This book was different though. In the beginning, she is so in love with Aspen. It was not some fake teenage love, it was the real deal but he tells her to sign up for the Selection. It killed him to make her “downgrade” to a 6 when she has a chance for more. That broke my heart so bad.
 ugly crying photo: cry2 Paul-Ugly-Crying-new-girl-30706394-245-175_zps4562ca71.gif
It is bad enough when a guy breaks up with you for any reason but for it to be over because of status and finances, that's killer. Of course neither of them thought she would actually be selected.

Prince Maxon on tv seems arrogant and snobby so American goes to the palace with no hope of finding love again. On the first night there, she has a melt down and tries to run to the gardens but is stopped by the guards. Prince Maxon comes to the rescue but unfortunately for him, he is scolded instead of praised. No matter what America throws at him, he still gives her love and respect. Through the course of the Selection, they become close friends.

When I started to get all excited that she might finally realize how amazing Maxon is and that she should fall in love with him and live happily ever after (deep breath)… then enter Aspen. As much as I originally loved Aspen, I wanted to drop kick him out the picture.
drop kick photo: drop kick tumblr_lmjncyY0HU1qczibyo1_500.gif

Now for the suspense. The palace is constantly being attacked. Nobody realized how often this is happening or why. Maxon tells America is theory but they still can't seem to figure it out. Once you think all is safe and okay... BAM another attack and each one is worse than the last. ( Dun dun dun!!!)

I loved America’s personality. She was sweet, caring and nurturing but could verbally kick some butt when she needed to. I loved her spunk. She did not back down from anything and was completely honest. Her mom reminded me so much of mine, which is kind of funny. She would have been the only driving me crazy to sign up for something and once I do, she is still not satisfied. She is an emotional roller coaster but America’s dad definitely balances it out.

If you don’t want to run and pick this book up yet; I don’t know what to tell you. It is purely amazing and captivating. I seriously loved this book (added to favorites list) and can’t wait to pick up the next book The Elite.

Book Review: Suddenly Royal

Suddenly Royal (Suddenly, #1)
Published April 19th 2013 by Nichole Chase
Kindle Edition, 1st Edition, 452 pages

Goodreads Synopsis:
Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

This story touched my heart and had me going through a roller coaster of emotions. There's nothing I love more than a book that has me cheesing like a schoolgirl that found out her crush likes her or literally laughing out loud. I think I may have even giggled (gasp)! Worse of all I cried like a baby (it takes a lot for me to cry to I applaud you Nichole)!

This book is about Samantha Rousseau, a wildlife biologist whose world is turned upside-down when the Duchess Rose and Prince Alex of Lilaria go in search of her. With her mother dead and step-father fighting cancer, she is barely keeping this together. The Duchess and Prince tell her that she is royalty and want her to go to Lilaria to claim her rank and property but how can she just pick up and leave everything behind including her sick dad.

Now lets get to Prince Yummy. With dark blonde hair, shocking bright blue eye, dimples and build; he had the complete yum factor. What girl hasn't dreaming of meeting a beautiful prince?! All he goes is give these smiles that can make a girl want to faint (in his arms) and find every reason to touch Sam. He tries his hardest to convince Sam to come back to Lilaria and be the Duchess that she was born to be but also be his.

When she finally makes a decision she is terrified. She is scared of what could happen if she fell in love with Alex or leaving her dad. All she wants is for him to come so he can get the best medical care possible but he has his own plans. While starting her new life and trying to adapt to the camera and reporters and everyone wanting to meet her she tries to fight against Alex. Alex refuses to give up though.

Sam's dad was the hardest part for me. With my own dad fighting cancer, I see so much of them alike and it was like feeling those emotions she felt times 5. I just pray I have someone like Alex by my side when I go through what she went through.

Sam created amazing relationships. Even though she was stubborn and was always ready to give a good tongue lashing, she loved fiercely. I loved the Alex and Sam together. Alex promised that he wouldn't throw her to the wolves and he didn't. He was amazing and didn't let anything stand in the way of what/who he wanted.

This is definitely a book that every girl should read. You will love it and fall in love with Alex just like I did.

Shuffle Saturdays #6 Poison

Shuffle Saturdays is hosted by the girls at Pretty In Fiction, where you post a random song each week. This is awesome for me because I'm known as the human ipod.

This week I chose "Poison." I was at Old Navy yesterday and this song came on and I was tempted to get all ghetto and act like the Wayans brothers. You can't help but want to dance around all crazy to this song.

What song makes you want to "bust a move"?

My Teaser:

Second Chance Boyfriend (Drew + Fable, #2)Second Chance Boyfriend (Drew + Fable #2) by

Fable nods, draws in a deep breath as her hands drop away from my chest.
"You did."
"Tell me what I can do to make it up to you." I need to know. I can't let her think this is over between us."  Kindle Location 800 of 3756 - 22%

(Goodreads synopsis) Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.

Book Review: Deeper We Fall

Deeper We Fall (Fall and Rise, #1)
by Chelsea M. Cameron

Published January 24th 2013
DRC Publishing
Netgallery e-book, 280 pages
(Goodreads synopsis) Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

Wow, this book was incredible. I normally stir away from books like this because I normally don't do too good with heavy but like I said... WOW!
Lottie and her twin brother Will go to college but little do they know their worse enemies would be right next door. When they were in high school Lottie's best friend fell for a'hole Zack which led to an accident that Zan was driving and she ended up with brain damage. Lottie's roommate's boyfriend ends up being none other than Zack. When she thinks things couldn't possibly get worse, she runs into Zan as well. Feeling like her would is crumbling around her, Will and Simon keep her close and try to cheer her up.
Zan has been in love with Lottie for like a century. Even after everything he went through and put her through he can't help but he drawn to her. They keep stumbling into each other and Zan does everything possible to show her that he's not a monster. Zan is lost as to how to win her over when they have the accident hovering over their heads.
Zack unfortunately is like a tornado, destroying everything in his path. Lottie is scared for her roommate but doesn't know how to warn her of the dangers that come along with being near Zack. Zan and Lottie come together to try and keep Katie safe but one night their worst fears happens anyways.
This story broke my heart about a million times but then pieced it all back together. I couldn't help falling for Zan even when you wanted to play the blame game. I mean how can you hate someone who loves so fiercely. Every time he spoke my heart broke a little more for him and I just wanted to wrap him up in a tight hug (extra tight if you know what I mean). I wanted him to get as much if not more love than he gave out. He deserved it. I really loved his character.
Lottie was hilarious. She had no filter and could ramble for days. She was so cute and I loved watching her change and grow. She adopted a family of friends that were completely loyal to her and she mushed them all together too.
Twindar. That was one of my favorite things. Will and Lottie was so close. They weren't just brother and sister, they were best friends. They knew exactly what they were thinking and feeling and always knew when the other one needed them. I used to have that kind of relationship with my brother (we aren't twins) so it was sweet to remember what it was like.
Over all I really enjoyed this book. I hope you guys love it as much as I did. Oh did I mention Zan constantly has his shirt of? Need I say more? ; ]
