Cover Reveal: Grounded by G.P. Ching

Grounded by G.P. Ching
Designed by Steven Novak
Publication date: November 15th 2012
Genre: YA Paranormal/ Sci fi & Fantasy

Synopsis:
All my life I've worked to be simple, but I can't pretend anymore. Nothing about me is simple.

In the year 2050, a secret government study nicknamed Operation Source Code injects eight volunteers with a retrovirus. The goal? To abate the energy crisis by reprogramming human DNA to power personal electronic devices. The experiment works but with disastrous consequences.

Seventeen years later, Lydia Troyer is far from concerned with the energy crisis. Growing up in the isolated community of Hemlock Hollow, life hasn't changed much since 1698 when her Amish ancestors came to America. She milks her cow by hand, makes fresh bread every morning, and hopes to be courted by Jeremiah, the boy who's been her best friend since she could walk.

But when Lydia's father has a stroke and is taken to the outside world for medical treatment, Lydia and Jeremiah leave home to visit him. An ordinary light switch thrusts Lydia into a new world where energy is a coveted commodity and her own personal history makes her the most sought-after weapon on the planet.

Teaser Tuesdays #8

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider

The Beginning of Everything
My Teaser:
"So I'm an asshole," I said.
"Well yeah. Insert gay joke about my liking assholes here." Toby shrugged, trying not to grin.
"Well, I would. But than that would make me a dick."
Toby snorted. "Touche." Pg. 270

Goodreads Synopsis:

Golden boy Ezra Faulkner believes everyone has a tragedy waiting for them—a single encounter after which everything that really matters will happen. His particular tragedy waited until he was primed to lose it all: in one spectacular night, a reckless driver shatters Ezra’s knee, his athletic career, and his social life.

No longer a front-runner for Homecoming King, Ezra finds himself at the table of misfits, where he encounters new girl Cassidy Thorpe. Cassidy is unlike anyone Ezra’s ever met, achingly effortless, fiercely intelligent, and determined to bring Ezra along on her endless adventures.

But as Ezra dives into his new studies, new friendships, and new love, he learns that some people, like books, are easy to misread. And now he must consider: if one’s singular tragedy has already hit and everything after it has mattered quite a bit, what happens when more misfortune strikes?

Robyn Schneider’s The Beginning of Everything is a lyrical, witty, and heart-wrenching novel about how difficult it is to play the part that people expect, and how new beginnings can stem from abrupt and tragic endings.

Shuffle Saturdays #4

Shuffle Saturdays is hosted by the girls at Pretty In Fiction, where you post a random song each week. This is awesome for me because I'm known as the human ipod.
This week I chose Redeemed by Big Daddy Weave. I love this song. I can have this song on repeat and it never gets old. There was a time I was so obsessed with this song that I would ask people random questions and the answers were all lyrics to the songs. My friends started coming up with moves to the different parts.

a connection with, but is she trying to make it more than is really there in
order to spare her the heartbreak of being with AJ?

Only
adding to her problems is the new resident, Dr. Jeffries, who seems out to get

You don't have to actually craft anything to "be inspired". Show something you maybe have done, want to try, or even a cool looking book nook or library. Whatever inspires you!

I've gotten really into the whole t-shirt cutting thing. I think its so cool that we can make old raggedy t-shirts look cute. I will try to post what I have done so far later this week but they aren't that great so bare with me.
